What is Metalphoto?

Posted by Sacred Engraving on 12/13/2014

Metalphoto means high resolution image reproduction on metal.  This includes graphics, pictures, and text imaged onto photosensitive anodized aluminum.  The result is a sharp, durable image that is weather, UV, and abrasion resistant.  Anything that can be printed on paper can be made a lasting image on metal. Metalphoto is defined as the most durable of aluminum identification plates by GPI, the National Association of Graphic and Product Identification Manufacturers, Inc.  Offering the highest graphic resolution capability of any metallic substrate.

Exceptionally Durable. Widely Specified. Always Readable.

For over 50 years, engineers have trusted Metalphoto’s photosensitive anodized aluminium for extremely durable equipment identification items installed in demanding…Plaque & Award Manufacturers appreciate Metalphoto’s distinctive appearance, outdoor performance, and high-profit potential. Images produced on Metalphoto are amazingly sharp; perfect for fine detail.  Photographs, illustrations, and graphics are faithfully reproduced.  Anything that can be photographed can be printed on Metalphoto.  Crisp, clear images are captured on a lusterous anodized finish.

Outdoor Performance:  Most materials used in the Recognition/Plaque & Award industry have poor resistance to sunlight.  Even exposure through a showroom window can cause sublimated plaques and even engraved metals to fade.  Metalphoto is different.  The silver-halide image for which it is known is trapped beneath a sapphire-hard anodic layer.  As a result, Metalphoto is resistant to abrasion, heat, salt spray, cleaning agents and fluids and most important for Plaque & Award manufacturers, sunlight.  Field experience proves that intensified Metalphoto images survive outdoors for twenty years or more.

Metalphoto was developed for the U.S. Navy and is suitable for use in extreme environments. It is the most economical alternative among outdoor metals. Letters, lines and photos are not raised but impregnated into the pores of the smooth metal surface creating a permanent, scratch resistant image.

Here at Sacred Engraving, we can design your images and text in Silver and Gold Metalphoto.  In addition, Solid Wood Plaque Boards are also available.  If you have any questions feel free to contact us and one of our excellent customer service staff will assist you with your purchase.
